April Reflections

So now Mui Ne is getting quieter and slowly people are leaving for new spots around the world, work or just go home to their "normal" lives. This means the END of the season is coming.

The wind season here starts in November and normally ends in April - but you never know, April can be surprisingly good - but as I'm writing this obvisously there is no wind at this moment otherwise i wouldn’t be sitting here! This season was a weird one with up and down winds in November and December and the real season only started in January with strong winds and a lot of happy people, as its supposed to be here.

Now lets talk about Phang Reng the new spot we have in Vietnam; as November and December was up and down windwise in Mui Ne, Phang Rang did have wind almost every day with a occasional non windy one. Most of the times we went up it was dead calm in Mui Ne - but we could go out on 9’s and 7 m’s in Phang Rang. Coming back to Mui ne in the evening people said there hasn’t been wind all day long - of course that depends on where you are!

Of course we're stoked with that - but unfortunately the tour company only opened at the beginning of January so we couldn’t bring any guests there during those windless Mui Ne times in late 2007 - it will be different next season for sure.

I went up myself on new years day - after 3 hours of sleep - with David Pilkington the Ozone chief designer, to test some prototypes and we went out on 5 meter kites - and again, no wind in Mui Ne that day!
