Vietnam Kitesurfing Tours - The Story
May 2007: Anthony and Scotty were fed up with Mui Ne and started driving up the coast of Vietnam to find new and better spots. After a few days of exploring and driving the dangerous highway NR 1 they found what they were looking for! Wind in a place called Phang Rang 150 km up from Mui Ne! Reefbreak, flat water and a huge reef! Both of them were super happy and rigged their kites to go out. After 30 minutes of fun they were called in by the army. Apparently it ‘s a military controlled area and they got arrested!
Good for them the Army dudes liked them, so they got away with a fine so now they could go back to Mui Ne only dreaming of this place. This is how the idea for Vietnamkitesurfingtours was born.
So after 6 months of hassling the government, talking and eating and talking and
eating and more talking (Vietnamese style of doing business) we got the business
license and are the only ones who are allowed to bring people to this amazing spot
and kite there.
The spot itself and area is beautiful, you will see no tourists there so its like
having a huge private playground all to yourself - a kiters paradise.
Vietnam Kitesurfing Tours will bring you there in style and with a lot of fun… everything
is taken care of! Drinks, food, taxi and of course the wind because this place has
its own wind system. Many days we drove away from Mui Ne (where it was windless)
thinking, should there be wind now??? And yes!!! Blasting !!!
So now 10 months later the tour company is up and running and we did our first tours
with the Ozone photoshoot as the most interesting one. We all had a great time and
it was a good test for us to see if everything went as we wanted it to be. We will
be really happy to share this spot with you and make you as comfortable as possible
while you are on the tour.
